Jana Luber, Psy.D., BCBA

Dr. Luber is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey who provides treatment to children, adolescents, and parents. She holds a Doctorate in School Psychology from St. John’s University and a Masters in Therapeutic Interventions and Certification in School Psychology from Fordham University. Dr. Luber is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and completed her coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the Florida Institute of Technology.  For over a decade, Dr. Luber has worked in clinical, home, and academic settings, including both private and public  schools. She has experience providing individual and group counseling services, delivering consultation to parents and teachers, and conducting psychoeducational evaluations. Dr. Luber was previously the school psychologist at the Cooke Center for Learning and Development in New York City and the Wise School in Los Angeles. At the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA), Dr. Luber received training at the PEERS Program to become an Adolescents Certified Provider; recently, she has completed training to be a SPACE-trained provider. She received extensive training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Parent Management Training (PMT) during her clinical externship at the Child Mind Institute. While at the Shefa School in New York City, Dr. Luber specialized in therapeutic interventions and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for students with language-based learning disabilities. Dr. Luber has previously worked at the Winston School of Short Hills, a school for students with language-based learning differences and as the Upper School Psychologist at the Peck School, a co-ed private school for grades K-8 in Morristown, New Jersey.


Approach

Dr. Jana Luber believes in the meaningful and transformative effects of therapy. She offers concrete skills and techniques based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while utilizing an ecological approach to involve the individual, family, and environmental systems. She strongly believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship through warmth, engagement, and humor, while placing an emphasis on identifying and monitoring progress related to reachable and concrete goals of treatment. 

Through a collaborative and holistic approach, Dr. Luber approaches the presenting concerns and subsequent treatment of therapy in a thoughtful and productive manner. During her career, Dr. Luber has evaluated and treated individuals with language-based learning disabilities, anxiety, selective mutism, autism, and attentional deficits. Dr. Luber currently provides counseling services to children and adolescents, as well as educational and behavioral consultation services to parents.
